  4. Apply for a Grant.

There is no limit on the number of project ideas that a college/university student and/or student group may submit. To be eligible for consideration for voting, an application must be submitted through the website by the end of the application period, comply with these official application guidelines and must include at least the following:

    • A description of your project idea including budget details
    • The Category in which your project idea fits (see website for list of eligible Categories)
    • Identify if you are an individual submitting an application on behalf of yourself or a student group

Participants will be notified by email at the email address provided during registration advising them if their submission is eligible for the modification and refinement stage.

Participants can create their profile at any time during the grant program period, but it must be completed within two days of the end of the application entry period.

  5. Modification and Refinement Stage.

Upon application submission, the sponsor and/or designated agents will review each eligible application to determine if it meets the grant program guidelines. After this review, each applicant will be contacted by their college-designated representative “champion” to provide counsel and advice on how to help improve their application. During this period students are eligible to modify their application and add videos and photos to help generate more votes for their idea.

  6. Grants Available.

There are up to three (3) grants in the amount of $3,000 each available to be awarded.

  7. Voting.

The application period is followed by a voting period. An individual can register on the website as a voter during the voting period listed above and vote for the applications they think should receive a grant. Limit one registration per person/email address/name and/or student group and one vote per media item per day during the voting period. The sponsor has the right to disqualify any entries where improper voting occurs.

Once the voting period has ended, the applicant with the highest number of votes in each category will each be considered an eligible grant recipient. If there is a tie among the applications in a particular category after the voting period has ended, the sponsor will review the tied applications and will break the tie based on judge’s discretion and review.

All eligible grant recipients will be subject to final review by a panel of judges to determine grant dispersion. Applications will be ranked based on an overall point system, 30 percent of which will be comprised of the results of a review by a panel of judges and the remaining 70 percent derived from online vote totals.

Winners will be notified via email and/or mail no later than March 13, 2012.

    Taxes.

There may be tax implications for grant recipients. We recommend that participants review their application with their legal/tax advisor to determine their potential tax liability. If there is any tax liability, it will be the sole responsibility of grant recipient.
