Reach Teach Learn Student Video Contest Info
The Reach Teach Learn Student Video Contest encourages students involved with agriculture
to create a video expression of conventional agriculture, first by submitting clips
portraying farms and production, then by editing clips to tell their version of
the story of food production.
How the contest will run:
The Reach Teach Learn Student Video Contest will have three parts.
The first is a call for submission of video clips related to livestock
production. A list of a wide variety of potential shots is posted on the
contest Web site. For every relevant, usable clip submitted, participants
will earn a $25 gift card, limit of ten (10) $25 gift cards per single college/university
student or student organization. The video clips will be categorized and properly
labeled before the second part of the contest.
Beginning October 19th video clips will become available
on the contest Web site for the video editing portion of the contest.
During this phase contestants will use a video editing program to develop a short
movie using the provided video clips. They will also have the option of including
video clips not provided, allowing for complexity and personalization of the project
to be determined by participant preference. The Web site will list example programs
to use for editing, but will also permit contestants to use a more complex program
if so desired.
After the submission deadline for completed videos, all acceptable
videos will be posted on the contest Web site. The winning video will
be determined through analysis by a panel of judges and an open voting process. The
winning entry will receive a $5000 cash prize, second place $2000 and third place $1000.
Each video will be posted on social networking sites.
The end product should depict several aspects of food production,
with a focus on animal agriculture. Submitted videos should be two to four minutes
in length, and should show animal agriculture in an educational, engaging, positive
manner. Video clips may be shot using a digital or video camera.
